Why it matters
A recovery phrase is not an ordinary password. For wallets that use one, it can recreate the private keys associated with the wallet. A legitimate recovery process may ask for it only inside the verified wallet software and in the correct restoration flow.
Protect it carefully
- Never send it to support or another person.
- Never enter it into random websites or forms.
- Beware of fake support accounts and urgent “verification” messages.
- Store it securely somewhere only you can access.
- Avoid unnecessary screenshots or cloud photo backups.
- Do not send it through email or messaging apps.
Wallets can recover differently
Not every wallet uses the same recovery model. Some use a recovery phrase, while others use different credentials or account-recovery systems. Follow the verified instructions for your wallet and confirm its actual recovery design before relying on a backup method.
